Posted Rates and Pricing

OCRV Center posts its rates openly. Body and paint is $210 per hour, mechanical and electrical is $260 per hour, diagnostics is $285 per hour applied as a credit against authorized repair, and detail is $95 per hour. Materials, parts markup, deposits and evaluation pricing are all listed below.

Most shops in this industry do not publish rates, and the reason usually given is that every job is different. Every job is different. The rate is not. Publishing it means you can do arithmetic before you commit to anything, and it means the estimate conversation starts from a shared fact rather than a negotiation.

What we cannot publish is a fixed price for your repair, because on a recreational vehicle the visible damage bears little relationship to the actual scope. The typical ranges further down are honest bands rather than quotes, and they are deliberately wide because the work genuinely varies that much.

Pricing Questions

Do you charge for an estimate?

An RV systems evaluation covering slide, awning, water, electrical, generator and related systems is $150, applied as a credit against an authorized repair. An in depth diagnostic is one hour at $285, also applied as a credit. These are credits rather than fees, so if you proceed with the work the evaluation cost comes off the repair total.

Why is the diagnostic rate higher than the labor rate?

Because diagnostic work requires scan equipment, software subscriptions and a technician spending time finding a fault rather than performing a known repair. It is genuinely the hardest hour in the shop, and pricing it below cost is how shops end up guessing and replacing parts in sequence instead of diagnosing properly.

Will my insurance job be billed at these rates?

Not necessarily. Insurance billed work may be written at carrier negotiated labor rates that differ from our posted retail rates, and we tell you upfront when that applies to your job rather than letting you discover it on the invoice. The posted rates above are what a customer pay job is billed at.

Why do parts under $100 carry higher markup?

Because the handling cost of sourcing, ordering, receiving and stocking a part is roughly the same whether it costs $8 or $800. Flat percentage markup across all price points either overcharges on expensive parts or loses money on cheap ones. Tiering it reflects the actual cost of getting the part into the shop.

Why is there a surcharge on large credit card payments?

It passes through the merchant processing fee on high ticket transactions rather than building that cost into every price for every customer. A 3.5 percent surcharge applies to credit card payments over $1,000. Payments by cash, check or debit avoid it entirely, as do card payments under that threshold.
