Frequently Asked Questions
The questions below cover getting started, pricing and payment, timelines and scheduling, and scope of work at OCRV Center. Questions specific to a service, vehicle type or insurance situation are answered on those pages.
Getting Started
Where is OCRV Center located and how far is it from Long Beach?
We are at 23281 La Palma Ave in Yorba Linda, roughly 35 minutes from downtown Long Beach taking the I-405 north to the CA-91 east. There is one location and all work is performed there. Customers come to us from across Long Beach, Orange County, Los Angeles County, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego for specialty work that general shops decline.
Do you offer mobile or roadside service?
No. All work is performed in shop at the Yorba Linda facility, and that is deliberate rather than a limitation. Structural pulls require a frame rack anchored to a concrete floor. Refinish work needs a downdraft booth to meet both the finish standard and California air quality requirements. Electrical diagnostics need shop power and proper equipment. The work happens where the equipment is.
What does an evaluation cost?
An RV systems evaluation covering slide, awning, water, electrical, generator and related systems is $150, applied as a credit against an authorized repair. An in depth diagnostic is one hour at $285, also applied as a credit against an authorized repair. These are credits rather than fees, so if you proceed with the work the evaluation cost comes off the repair.
How do I get an estimate started?
Call (949) 799-3387 or use the contact form on this site with your vehicle details and a description of the damage. Photographs help considerably for an initial conversation. For anything structural or insurance related we need the vehicle here, because estimates written from photographs on recreational vehicles are consistently wrong and we would rather tell you the real number.
Pricing and Payment
What are your labor rates?
Body and paint is $210 per hour. Mechanical and electrical is $260 per hour. Diagnostics, scan and programming is $285 per hour with a one hour minimum applied as a credit against authorized repair. Detail is $95 per hour. Paint supplies are calculated at $55 per paint hour and body supplies at $5 per body hour. All rates are posted on our pricing page.
What deposit do you require?
A 50 percent deposit at authorization on any job over $2,000, and an additional 25 percent when parts arrive on any job over $10,000. Final balance is due at pickup and no vehicle leaves the property until paid in full. Special order parts require a 100 percent non refundable deposit at time of order, because those cannot be returned.
How do parts markup and tax work?
Parts priced at $100 or less carry 100 percent markup. Parts priced over $100 carry 35 percent markup. Sales tax of 7.75 percent applies to parts and materials, and labor is not taxed in California. A 3.5 percent surcharge applies to credit card payments over $1,000, which passes through the merchant fee on high ticket transactions rather than building it into every price.
Do you accept insurance direct billing?
Yes, to every major carrier. You pay your deductible rather than the repair total and chase reimbursement. Insurance billed work may be written at carrier negotiated labor rates that differ from our posted retail rates, and we tell you upfront when that applies to your job rather than letting you discover it on the invoice.
Timelines and Scheduling
How long will my repair take?
Single panel body work with refinish typically runs one to two weeks. Multi panel collision runs three to eight weeks. Structural repair with frame correction and interior rebuild runs eight to sixteen weeks or more. The two largest variables are insurance approval speed and parts availability, and on coaches from manufacturers that have discontinued a model, parts are usually the constraint.
Can you prioritize my repair?
We prioritize based on operational impact rather than on who asks. A mobile business vehicle losing daily revenue, a municipal unit with no backup and a fleet truck holding up a route all get weighted accordingly. Tell us the situation and we schedule against it. What we cannot compress is carrier approval time or parts lead time, and any shop promising otherwise is not being straight with you.
Will you tell me if the timeline changes?
Yes, and proactively rather than when you call to ask. Timelines change for two reasons: a supplement that is waiting on carrier approval, or a part that turned out to have a longer lead time than the supplier indicated. Both are outside our control and both are things you should hear about from us rather than discover.
Scope of Work
What kinds of vehicles do you work on?
All classes of motorhome, fifth wheels, travel trailers, toy haulers, pop up and truck campers, teardrops, park models, Sprinter and cargo vans, camper conversions, box trucks, semi tractors, flatbeds, school and transit buses, ambulances and fire apparatus, police and municipal fleet units, refuse trucks and street sweepers, Rivian, electric delivery vans, food trucks and mobile business vehicles.
Do you perform engine, drivetrain or DOT inspection work?
No. This facility performs collision, body, paint, frame and structural work, cargo body repair, equipment mounting, RV systems including electrical, plumbing, appliances, heating and cooling, and custom fabrication. Engine, drivetrain, transmission, DOT inspection, boom certification and hydraulic certification are not offered here. We state that plainly so you can sequence your service properly.
Will you tell me if a repair is not worth doing?
Yes, and it happens regularly. On older coaches the repair cost sometimes exceeds what the vehicle is worth, and pouring an engine overhaul into a unit with a failing control board and corroded harness means paying twice. We measure, assess and tell you what we find, including when the honest answer is that the money is better spent elsewhere.
Something not answered here? Call the shop and ask. We would rather spend five minutes on the phone than have you drive out to Yorba Linda for something we could have told you.
