Our Team and How the Shop Is Organized
OCRV Center is organized into seven departments: estimating and claims, structural and frame, body and composite, refinish, RV systems, fabrication, and quality control. Each is staffed by technicians certified for that discipline, and all of them work in the same 35,000 square foot building.
Departments
Estimating and Claims
Marcus Delgado, Shop Foreman and Lead Estimator
Writes every estimate, runs teardown documentation, and handles supplement submission and carrier negotiation. This desk is deliberately staffed by someone who also runs the production floor, because an estimator who never sees whether the estimate survived teardown writes worse estimates over time.
Certification: I-CAR Platinum, ASE Certified, RVIA Trained
Structural and Frame
Frame Department
Measurement, staged hydraulic pulls on the anchored rack, sectioning at manufacturer approved locations, and verification after the steel relaxes. This department also handles unibody correction on vans and aluminum intensive structure on electric platforms.
Certification: I-CAR structural certification, aluminum and steel process qualified
Body and Composite
Body Department
Panel repair and replacement, fiberglass and laminate structural rebuild, delamination correction, and substrate and framing repair behind the skin. Composite work on recreational vehicles is a distinct discipline from sheet metal and is staffed accordingly.
Certification: I-CAR certified, composite laminate repair trained
Refinish
Paint Department
Preparation, color development against the vehicle as it exists today, spray in the downdraft booth, blending, and cut and polish. Roughly 70 percent of refinish labor happens before any color is sprayed, which is where quality is actually determined.
Certification: Manufacturer certified refinish, spray technician qualified
RV Systems
Systems Department
Twelve volt and 120 volt electrical, solar and battery systems, generators, plumbing and holding tanks, water heating, appliances, heating and cooling, and slide out mechanisms. This is the department a general body shop does not have.
Certification: RVIA and RVTI trained, LP gas certified
Fabrication
Fabrication Department
Steel, stainless and aluminum fabrication for discontinued parts, custom mounting, equipment installation, racks, bumpers and structural reinforcement. Designs to dynamic load rather than static weight.
Certification: AWS qualified welding, aluminum and steel process
Quality Control and Delivery
QC
Multi point inspection, systems operation testing, post repair scan and driver assistance recalibration, final detail, and the walkthrough with you before keys change hands. Nothing leaves without passing this stage.
Certification: ADAS calibration equipped
Why the Shop Is Split This Way
A recreational vehicle repair usually touches four or five of these departments. A coach that took a corner impact needs structural measurement, composite rebuild, refinish, and frequently systems work because the impact disturbed wiring or a slide mechanism.
In most of the market those disciplines live in different buildings owned by different companies. The handoffs between them are where timelines slip and where accountability disappears. Keeping them in one building under one schedule is the entire operational argument for this facility.
It also means the estimator can walk to the frame rack and look at the actual measurement rather than reading a number somebody emailed him, which produces better estimates and fewer surprises.
Training and Certification
The facility holds California Bureau of Automotive Repair license ARD00288521 and EPA certification CAL000367879.
Technician certification spans I-CAR structural and refinish, aluminum and steel process qualification for electric and aluminum intensive platforms, AWS welding qualification in the fabrication department, RVIA and RVTI systems training, and LP gas certification for propane system work.
Certification requirements move as platforms change. Aluminum intensive structure, high voltage systems and driver assistance recalibration are all recent additions to what a body technician needs to know, and departments are trained on those before the vehicles arrive rather than after.
The technical library on this site is written by Marcus Delgado. You can also read how a repair runs here.
Get Your Vehicle Looked At Properly
Call the shop, describe what happened, and we will tell you what the realistic scope and timeline look like. All work is performed in shop at our 35,000 square foot facility.
